They Thought This Supercar Duo Would Be Worth A Fortune. They Were Wrong

- Aston Martin and Zagato built only 19 pairs of the DBS GT and DB4 GT.
- The DB4 GT Continuation delivers 390 hp through its 4.7-liter straight-six.
- Powering the DBS GT is a tuned version of the Superleggera’s twin-turbo V12.
Back in 2019, Aston Martin teamed up with famed Italian design house Zagato to create an ultra-exclusive pairing of two standout models: the 1963 DB4 GT Zagato Continuation and the DBS GT Zagato. Only 19 sets were produced, and they weren’t available separately.

Buyers had to purchase both as a package deal for a lofty £6.1 million, or about $7.8 million at the time. Even at that price, every set sold quickly, with most likely disappearing into private collections. Now, one pairing is about to resurface.
A Sharp Decline in Value
Next month, a rare opportunity will arise during Monterey Car Week, when Broad Arrow Auctions offers one of the original duos for sale. The pairing includes both a DB4 GT Continuation and a DBS GT Zagato. Despite their rarity and gorgeous design, the estimated sale price is far below the original sticker at between $3.5 million and $4.5 million combined.
The DB4 GT Zagato Continuation is finished in Caribbean Pearl and wrapped in hand-formed 1.2 mm aluminum bodywork. It’s a left-hand-drive model powered by a 4.7-liter naturally aspirated straight-six, producing 390 horsepower and paired with a four-speed manual transmission.
Originally designed as a track-only car, this example is titled in Florida and shows just 63 miles (101 km) on the odometer, so it’s practically new.

Then there’s the matching DBS GT Zagato. Each of the 19 examples built is based on the DBS Superleggera, meaning they all have a 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12. However, whereas the Superleggera was capped at 715 hp, the GT Zagato delivers 760 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque.
This car features the same Caribbean Pearl paint as the DB4 GT, complemented by a Dark Knight leather interior. It’s fitted with silver anodized fender blades, centerlock wheels, and an exposed carbon fiber double-bubble roof.

Collectible Potential, Reconsidered
Those who purchased the Aston Martin x Zagato duo likely hoped they’d turn into prized collector’s items, but if the pre-auction estimates prove to be accurate, that’s not what they’ve become. Perhaps the original $8 million sticker price was far too much.
If you’re tempted to add these special Astons to your garage, or at least stare longingly at the photos, you can check out the listing here. Just try not to calculate the depreciation out loud.
